1. Present progressive tense. (Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn)
Cách dùng:
• Diễn tả một hành động hay một sự việc xảy ra lúc nói.
Please don't talk loudly. The baby is sleeping.
Sorry. He can't answer the phone. He is having a bath now.
• Diễn tả một hành động hoặc một sự việc xảy ra quanh thời điểm hiện tại.
A: What are you doing at the moment?
B: Oh, I'm revising all the old lessons.
He often goes to work by motorbike. Today it is raining heavily so he is going to work by bus.
• Diễn tả một hành động sẽ xảy ra trong một tương lai gần.
What are you doing tomorrow?
I am going to the zoo with my close friend.
Ghi nhớ:
• Các động từ sau đây không được dùng ở thì hiện tại tiếp diễn:
love, like, prefer, dislike, hate. want. wish, please, satisfy, surprise, guess, doubt, imagine, know. mean, realize, understand, believe, remember, belong, depend, fit, seem, v.v ...
1 love this country. (Không dùng: I am loving this country'.)
I need a bicycle. (Không dùng: I am needing a bicycle.)
• Các động từ sau đây dùng được ở hai hình thức: hiện tại và hiện tại tiếp diễn nhưng nghĩa khác nhau.
I see what you mean. (Tôi hiểu ý anh muốn gì.)
I am seeing him tomorrow. (Mai tôi sẽ gặp anh ấy.)
We think you are right. (Chúng tôi nghĩ rằng anh đúng.)
What are you thinking about? (Cậu đang nghĩ gì thế?)
The food smells delicious. (Thức ăn có mùi thơm quá.)
Why is she smelling the fish? (Tại sao cô ấy lại ngửi cá?)
I feel we shouldn't go there. (Tôi cam thấy chúng ta không nên đi đến đây.)
I am feeling better today. (Hôm nay tôi cảm thấy khá hơn.)
2. Adjectives (Tính từ)
• Tính từ bổ nghĩa cho danh từ và đi trước danh từ, có chức năng định ngữ.
She is a nice girl.
This is a long river.
• Tính từ có chức năng bổ ngữ đi sau một động từ như: he, become, seem, look, sound, feel. Get, appear, stay, taste, smell.
She looks tired. (Cô ấy trông có vẻ mệt mỏi.)
It's getting cold. (Trời trở lạnh.)
• Hầu hết các tính từ có thế vừa có chức năng định ngữ và bổ ngữ.
She is a beautiful girl, và The girl is beautiful.
It is a large garden, và The garden is large.
3. Adverbs (Trạng từ)
• Trạng từ bổ nghĩa cho động từ.
She dances beautifully.
He runs fast.
• Trạng từ tận cùng bằng -ly thường được dùng để diễn tả sự việc xảy ra như thế nào.
My sister does her homework carefully.
She speaks English fluently.
Trật tự của trạng từ
• Trạng từ thường đi trước các động từ thường.
He often gets up at 5 o'clock in the morning.
She rarely eats fish.
• Trạng từ thường đi sau các động từ  to be và các động từ đặc biệt.
She is always on time.
He can never get up early in the morning.
• Trạng từ được đặt ở cuối câu khi diễn tả ý như thế nào, ở đâu và khi nào.
He played the guitar very well.
He works in the lab on Sundays.
• Trạng từ không được đặt ở giữa động từ và tân ngữ của nó.
He speaks Chinese very quickly.

4. Prepositions of position (Giới từ chỉ nơi chốn)
a) In:
+ Được dùng để nói một người hoặc một vật ở trong một chỗ nào hoặc nơi nào đó. in the kitchen/ bathroom/ garden/ pub/ town/ city/ country/ cinema/ restaurant/ hook/ lesson/picture/ newspaper/ pocket/ bottle/ sky/ row/ world
Today is the Mother's Day so my father is cooking in the kitchen now.
There are a lot of flowers in my garden.
I like the food in this restaurant. It's really delicious.
+ Được dùng với một số danh từ không có mạo từ để cho biết ai đang ở một địa điểm nào đó.
in bed/ in hospital/ prison
I le had an accident. He is in hospital now.
Don't stay in bed. Get up and play football with me.
b) On:
+ Được dùng cho bề mặt của một vật, một nơi chốn:
on the wall/ floor/ ceiling/ table/ chair/ map/ ground/ pavement/ farm/ road/ platform
There is a very nice picture on the wall.
He lives on the third floor of that building.
I like silting on this chair. It's very comfortable.
+ Được dùng để tạo thành một cụm giới từ chỉ nơi chốn.
on the right/ left/ back of something
In my country, people drive on the right of the street.
She writes her name on the back of the book.
+ Dùng cho đường phố
I live on Tran Hung Dao Street.
He met his teacher on Regant Road.
+ Dùng cho các phương tiện giao thông đi lại.
on a bus/ train/ ship/plane/ bicycle/ motorbike
I met him on the last bus yesterday.
Minh passed me on his new bicycle.
c) At:
+ Được dùng cho một vị trí. một địa điểm:
at school/ home/ college/ university/ work
al the traffic lights/ the station/ the door/ the window/ the office/ the bus stop/ the meeting/ the party/ the concert/ the airport/ the seaside/
My mother is not at work today. She is at home.
Where is Mr. Nam? - Oh. he is at the meeting now.
I live at 144 Pham Van Dong Street.
+ Được dùng để tạo thành một cụm giới từ chỉ nơi chốn.
at the corner of the room/ at the back of the queue/ at the bottom of the page/ at the end of the road/ at the top of the tower.
I found this pen at the corner of the room.
Her house is at the end of the street.
d) Ngoài các giới từ IN, ON, AT. chúng ta còn có những giới từ chỉ nơi chốn sau:
near (gần): There is a river near my house.
above (phía trên): The ceiling is above US.
opposite (đối diện): His house is opposite a bookstore.
next to (bên cạnh): A tall handsome man sat next to me on the plane to Hue.
over (ở trên): Long Bien Bridge is over the Red River.
under (ở dưới): Look. The cat is under the bed.
inside (phía trong): Go inside the garden, you will sec a very big tree.
outside (phía ngoài): I am not inside the house. I am outside it now.
between (ở giữa): My house is between the drugstore and the restaurant.
among (trong đám): She is standing among the boys.
